You will be working within the Economic Development and Programmes Team whose remit includes responsibility for the effective delivery of key economic and sustainability programmes; Economic Growth, Healthy Communities, Climate Change & Sustainability and Social & Economic Inclusion. Key areas of focus for the team includes business support, delivery of key regeneration schemes, town centre development, promotion of visitor economy, health, sustainability and climate change, policy and strategy development and programme management of external funding.

Reporting to the Economic Development and Programmes Manager, the postholder will lead and facilitate the Council’s response to environmental and organisational sustainability challenges and the Climate Change mitigation agenda and support to the strategic healthy communities agenda, influencing policy and strategy with a key focus on internal and external stakeholder engagement and collaboration. The role will develop, lead and deliver key projects and initiatives that ensure the Council’s business practices are sustainable and environmentally sound.

To be successful you will need:

  • To have knowledge of current sustainability/climate change policy at a regional/national level.
  • To have experience of developing, maintaining and monitoring key strategies, policies, projects and procedures with a health and/or climate change/sustainability focus.
  • Experience of working with key stakeholders, including senior managers, Elected Member and external partners to deliver against health and/or climate change agendas.
  • To be self-motivated and enthusiastic worker who can work independently.

The post is office based at District Council Offices, Mill Lane, Wingerworth with potential for hybrid working subject to operational requirements. The job will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle as attendance at partner meetings across the County and sub-region will be required.
