
Senior HR Advisor – Casework
Job summary
This role provides professional HR advice across a wide range of people matters, working closely with the relevant HR Business Partner and escalating complex cases where needed. You will work closely with managers to progress overdue actions, support Employment Tribunal processes, and deliver induction and other HR briefing sessions. The role contributes to developing and reviewing HR policies and templates, keeps the team informed of relevant employment law cases, and manages ad hoc project work linked to strategic HR priorities. You will maintain strong relationships across HR and the wider department, ensuring timely, compliant and customer‑focused support.Job description
- Provision of advice and guidance on a variety of HR matters, escalating more complex cases to an HR Business Partner.
- Working with line managers to follow up on overdue processes in coordination with HR Operations and the relevant HR Business Partner e.g. sickness absence triggers, outstanding performance management actions and proactively managing relevant interventions.
- Supporting on Employment Tribunals including collation and review of information as well as tracking key milestones
- Delivering regular induction and other relevant HR briefing sessions to staff.
- Contributing to the production and review of HR policies, procedures, templates and work instructions.
- Keeping up to date with relevant employment law cases and best practice and sharing that information with the team as appropriate.
- Managing and tracking project work on an ad hoc basis e.g. on key HR priorities in the People Strategy or HR Divisional Plan which affect casework.

Qualifications
- CIPD Level 5 or relevant demonstrable professional knowledge and experience (A)
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of current employment legislation (A&I)
- An understanding of GDPR, data protection practices and confidentiality principles (A)
- Good working knowledge of MS Office functions, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint (A)
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures and HR good practice (A&P)
Skills/Ability
- Robust and proven stakeholder engagement and management skills (A, I&P)
- Effective communication skills – written and oral with the ability to deal with often complex and sensitive personnel issues, support, advise and guide managers and employees on staff policies (A, I&P)

If you are successful following the sift stage, you will be invited to an initial interview, to be held onsite at 1 Horse Guards Road; this will include the following assessment:

- Technical - you will be assessed across your technical expertise and acumen, in relation to the essential criteria:
