About the team

The HR Systems team is dedicated to improving how colleagues interact with HR systems across the organisation.

Working closely with stakeholders, the team identifies business needs and delivers innovative solutions that enhance both current operations and future capability.

You will play a key role in supporting the organisation through Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), helping deliver people-focused change and organisational transformation.

About the role

As a Senior HR Officer, you will:

  • Provide expert advice on HR systems to support organisational change and continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to design and implement system solutions
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance customer experience
  • Manage and optimise HR systems, including system testing, delivering demonstrations, and facilitating training
  • Translate complex technical processes into clear, accessible guidance
  • Support contract and supplier management to ensure value for money and performance
  • Line manage a team, ensuring delivery against priorities, work plans and deadlines
  • Deputise for the HR Manager when required

This is a varied fast-paced role, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

About you

We are looking for someone who is

  • A strong communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Skilled in problem-solving, with sound professional judgement
  • Highly organised and able to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Experienced in HR systems and supporting service improvement

Essential:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Sound understanding of HR policies and procedures
  • Strong IT skills, with experience of digital systems and data
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance on HR systems and processes

Desirable:

  • Experience working with HR systems or in a similar rol
  • Technical expertise in HRIS or ATS platform
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience as a technical specialist in HR systems
