Job description

Lead a range of electrical projects in iconic and unique buildings

With frequent overseas travel, sometimes at short notice, this role is an opportunity to experience the engineering industry in a variety of cultures. Locations range from European sites to the South Pacific, and environments such as Ulaan Bataar, Baghdad or Kyiv. You’ll work on some unique and iconic buildings too – each location and project enhancing your experience in new and fascinating ways.

From project inception and design to on-site supervision and completion, you’ll lead on electrical projects ranging from £10k up to £20m in value whilst engaging with a variety of customers and stakeholders – including Ambassadors and FCDO security advisors. Reacting to the changing needs and events that can impact on overseas estates, you’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that every project stays on track and meets the brief. Continually developing your own skills, whilst driving ongoing improvement in CDM, design processes, FCDO Services installation standards, technical assurance and accreditation.

Extend your engineering and design skills helping to defend the UK’s global interests

With a Professional Electrical Engineering qualification, you should be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer registered with the Engineering Council and a member of a professional Engineering body. Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation in a M&E environment is essential, as is your ability to use design software like Amtech, Dialux and AutoCAD/REVIT.

Bringing post-qualification experience and a proven track record in leading design and construction teams, you’ll also have strong stakeholder management skills. You’re confident engaging with customers, sponsors and overseas construction consultants to capture and develop project requirements. Project and budget management skills are also key to this role.

That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, good holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
