Job description

As a Senior Operational Leader, main duties consist of but are not limited to:
  • Lead and Inspire: Manage and motivate large teams, creating a productive and organised environment where people can thrive.
  • Coach and Develop: Support your team’s growth by guiding them through change, nurturing their skills, and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Communicate Effectively: Share performance updates clearly and transparently, inspiring others to achieve and exceed targets.
  • Lead by Example: Set the standard for excellence, making confident decisions and taking ownership of outcomes.
  • Champion Our Values: Help your team understand how their work contributes to our goals, embedding our values in everything you do.
  • Ensure Compliance: Make sure all activities align with legislative powers and organisational standards, promoting a cohesive and compliant workplace.

For some of our Senior Operational Leader roles in our Customer Delivery Directorate a higher level of security vetting is required due to the nature of the work being undertaken. The level of security vetting needed is security check (opens in a new window) To gain security check (SC) level vetting you will need to meet the vetting requirements and have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years. Where will you be working?

You will be aligned to our Cardiff office, where you will be expected to attend on a regular basis. We use a hybrid working model to support a healthy work-life balance, with attendance at the office required weekly. Attendance patterns will be agreed with your manager. You may need to attend the office more often when business needs require.

Stage 1– Sift

An initial sift of applications will be carried out to create a shortlist. This will be based on the evidence provided for the below Success Profile elements.

Stage2- Interviews

If invited to interview Behaviours and Strengthbased questioning will be used.

Please note: candidates that proceed to the interview stage will be required to deliver a 10-minute presentation against the Leadership Behaviour Success Profile. Interviews for this role will be carried out In person interview at our Cardiff office.

Stage 3- offer

Once all interviews have been completed, you will be notified of the outcome by email. Offers will be made in strict merit order to the highest scoring candidate first as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Principles.

Reserve list
This recruitment campaign will keep a reserve list for 12 months. If you meet the requirements for this role but aren't offered after passing the interview, you'll be placed on the reserve list. Subject to business need, if a suitable position opens up during this time, we will reach out to individuals in merit order.
