We’re recruiting for a Senior Power BI Developer here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Data team.
We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to maintain and expand our suite of Finance Power BI dashboards. You’ll work closely with finance teams, data engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver accurate, scalable, and high‑quality reporting solutions. The role covers end‑to‑end Power BI development, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, optimisation, and workspace management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance existing Finance Power BI dashboards and data models.
- Develop new reports and visualisations following Power BI best practices.
- Build efficient DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
- Design scalable data models using STAR schema and strong data modelling principles.
- Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver clear, actionable insights.
- Ensure data accuracy through validation, reconciliation, governance, and secure access controls (including RLS).
- Use advanced Power BI features such as bookmarks, field parameters etc
- Manage Power BI Workspaces and Apps, including publishing and permissions.
- Work with cloud environments such as Microsoft Fabric, AWS, or similar.
- Use SQL for data extraction, validation, or troubleshooting when required.
- Produce clear documentation for models, datasets, and report logic.
- Experience in Power Apps to maintain and build solutions

Person Specification
Essential
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and scalable data models, applying strong data modelling principles and best practices. Including robust DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and clear documentation for models, datasets, and reporting logic.
- Develop and maintain Power Apps solutions to extend reporting capabilities and support business process automation, ensuring effective integration with Power BI, data platform and business workflows.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric & AWS) and utilise SQL for data extraction, validation, and troubleshooting, ensuring effective governance controls and management of Power BI workspaces, apps, and access (including RLS).
Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for SC clearance.

Salary Information**
Base salary for this role is from £42,914 - £46,182 (National) or £49,325 - £53,081 (London).
- New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
- Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transferwill retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
- Existing Civil Servants who are promotedwill either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
