West Dunbartonshire HSCP is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Throughcare & Aftercare Service on a fixed‑term basis in the role of Senior Social Worker.
This is a key role within the local authority supporting our commitment to The Promise by ensuring care‑experienced young people are equipped, empowered and supported as they transition to adulthood.
You will provide professional leadership, oversight and direction to a dedicated team of Social Workers and Throughcare & Aftercare workers working with young people aged 16–26 as they transition from care to adulthood, ensuring practice is safe, rights‑based, aspirational and grounded in strong relationships.
The role includes supervising staff, supporting complex decision‑making, strengthening multi‑agency working, and contributing to service improvement and quality assurance activity.
We are looking for candidates who will bring experience in children’s social work, and who are confident managing complexity, supporting staff development, and driving high‑quality outcomes for care‑experienced young people.
Requirements
This post is considered a Regulated Role with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

Salary range
- £52,392.88 - £57,283.61 per year
