
Senior Social Worker – Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
Job Description
OverviewThe London Borough of Harrow is seeking a tenacious, methodically minded, and experienced Social Worker to join its dynamic Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. This role is central to safeguarding children and delivering crucial family support services across the borough.
The successful postholder will operate as the allocated Social Worker, taking primary responsibility for completing comprehensive assessments for a diverse caseload. This includes children who are in need, those requiring protection, children who are looked after by the local authority, and individuals involved in public care proceedings. Furthermore, the role involves undertaking assessments for children subject to private law proceedings when directed by the Court.
The Social Worker will be accountable for the entire case management cycle for all allocated children and families. This encompasses assessment, meticulous planning, ongoing monitoring, and timely review functions. The caseload is statutory and varied, covering children and families requiring support, those in need of protection, and children looked after. This requires a professional capable of managing complex, sensitive situations with expertise and adherence to statutory guidelines, ensuring positive and safe outcomes for the most vulnerable children in Harrow.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
- Able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
Able to demonstrate a commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and the ability to understand and implement the policy in relation to the job responsibilities.
- Experience of user consultation and participation focusing on the needs of service users and carers.
- MASH or First Response Team (FRT) experience
- The post holder must have a working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:
• Legislation
• Regulations and Standards
• Government Objectives and Initiatives
• National and Common Assessment Framework - Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
- Registered with Social Work England
