
Senior Trading Standards Officer
We are currently seeking a Trading Standards professional who will enjoy working in the Public Protection team, with duties including:
- Investigating complaints and service demands
- Interpreting and enforcing a wide range of legislation in relation to but not exclusively fraud, age restricted products, safety and intellectual property and doorstep crime
- Developing and implementing projects and initiatives based on intelligence and identified trends
- Specialising in one or more work areas
- Providing training to businesses and partners
- Enforcing a range of legislation in relation to unfair trading practices
- Enforcing the provisions of the Licensing Act
- Undertaking complex investigations into breaches of consumer protection legislation, demonstrating a detailed and high level of knowledge and skill in respect of trading standards legislation, criminal court procedures, and disclosure rules
- Representing the team at multi agency events, operations and meetings
Our Trading Standards department carries out a broad spectrum of Trading Standards functions through enforcement and advice as well as taking part in national projects and surveys. We are also the Primary Authority for a large multinational retailer.
As part of a small interactive team you will have the opportunity to gain wide experience in the enforcement of a range of trading standards legislation. You should be self-motivated, being able to work on your own, as well as part of the team.
Trading standards service also play a critical role in creating a healthy economy by protecting legitimate businesses.
The Trading Standards service is part of the Public Protection team which also includes Food Safety, External Health and Safety enforcement and Licensing.

Candidate Profile
You will need to hold the DTS, DCATS or equivalent professional qualification or have extensive proven experience within Trading Standards
