Salary: £25,995-£26,409 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay Award Pending)

Working Hours: 37 per week

Contract Type: Permanent,

About the Role

The Service Support Assistant role is part of the wider Business Support Service and the role includes completing tasks on various information and finance management systems within the timescales given, improving data quality in key systems by working with a high standard of attention to detail and following agreed procedures. The current vacancy sits within the Education area of the Business Support Service.

Included in this role is the expectation to respond to and screen telephone calls, emails and other enquiries and therefore to provide a high level of customer care. The successful applicant will also produce letters, reports, emails, minutes, spreadsheets etc. using a variety of software packages to a professional standard, maintaining diaries, making appointments and arranging meetings as required.

Also to manage and co-ordinate a busy incoming and outgoing workload, taking appropriate action to record, track, progress and prioritise work, using their own initiative as required to resolve non-complex queries and problems.

As part of the wider team an important part of all roles within the service is to provide back up to colleagues, across service areas and to assist in handling urgent work on a day to day basis.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • Recognised Academic Qualifications e.g. 'GCSE', 'A' Levels, Vocational Quals, Professional/Further Education Quals in relevant area. NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent. Or equivalent level of relevant experience. Previous clerical experience ideally in a public sector setting.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, with the ability to use spreadsheets and perform basic data analysis. To give evidence of establishing and maintaining manual and electronic admin systems.
  • Good organisational skills with good written and oral communication skills,
  • Excellent customer care skills and a full understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to produce accurate work to deadlines and give evidence of numeracy, literacy and statistical analysis skills.
  • Able to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work under minimum supervision, with a flexible approach.
