Work Location: Mountsorrel Depot, Hawcliffe Road, Mountsorrel, Leicestershire LE12 7AH

Salary: £28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Sign Services and Traffic Management Technician to join our Operational Highways team at Leicestershire County Council, working as part of the Sign Services team providing the design, manufacture, installation and dismantling of bespoke signage as instructed to meet programme targets. Activities included are sign design and manufacture, sign distribution and data inputting including collections

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.

This role is a “safety critical post” and, consequently, subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Testing Policy, Procedure and Guidance is available upon request.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • NVQ 2 in Highways Maintenance or similar, Skilled Road-worker Trades Test Assessment, New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Qualification (Supervisor), National Highways Sector Scheme 12D (M1/M2 & M7
    OR you have demonstratable evidence of skills and experience with a commitment to attaining the essential qualifications.
  • It would be desirable if you had experience of Signlab software, with Mimaki flatbed printing, with Mimaki Printer / cutter and with Laminator.
  • Experience working in a highways or civil engineering environment.
  • Experience of using information technology (e.g personal computer, PDS, mobile phones etc) in a work-related context and using word processors, spreadsheets, databases and Microsoft office Software suite, to retrieve and input data.
  • Knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic Management Regulations.
  • Core communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Are able and willing to work with everyone in the team, use their own initiative in planning and prioritising and can respond confidently to customers & colleagues with understanding & diplomacy whilst maintaining an objective & professional stance. Are well organised and be able to prioritise own workload and is self-motivated and can use their own initiative
