Description

Help lead and support your team to provide essential assistance with crimes across the East Midlands Region.

Join now as a transferee Inspector for the EMSOU Serious Organised Crime (SOC) team!

The EMSOU-SOC team are looking to recruit 2 Detective Inspectors; one based in South Leicestershire and one based in the vicinity of Junction 27 of the M1.

You will be responsible for providing clear leadership, management and direction to the Operations Syndicate staff, providing support advice and guidance where appropriate. Perform all duties required of a manager within EMSOU. You will also promote, and work to support the Head of Unit to achieve the aims, goals, objectives, and other performance measures of EMSOU. Participate as a K&E SIO in ‘crime in action’ investigations via an on-call rota covering the five regional forces.

What you'll be doing

  • As a member of the unit senior management team, you will advise and support the Head of Unit, through formal and informal communicative means. This will include preparation for, and participation in, Unit management and operational meetings.
  • Ensure that syndicate activity is undertaken and conducted in accordance with the law, codes of practice, ACPO manuals of standards, and other relevant national, regional and local policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that fairness, integrity and diversity are embedded into the entire business base of the unit. Lead by example and apply legislation and policies rigorously to help create and maintain a culture of openness, honesty, fairness and respect.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates will need to be able to travel throughout the UK when required.

The must haves

  • Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
  • Have a full manual driving licence.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Be confirmed in rank.
  • You are expected to be up to date with any mandatory learning including College Learn packages with spot checks being completed.

Security Requirements - This post requires regular access to sensitive material and applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo enhanced security clearance before taking up the post. The material may be of sensitivity to the UK and may therefore be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may be granted access. However, if potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be permitted access to the systems or material required for the role and will not therefore be able to perform their duties. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or achieve the required levels of security clearance requirements cannot be offered the post.
