We are recruiting a Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £39,152 - £41,771 with an additional £3,551 annual market supplement, and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are looking for a committed and skilled social worker to support our 16+ service, working with young people transitioning from care to independence. This role is vital in promoting positive outcomes, safeguarding wellbeing, and ensuring young people are equipped with the skills and support needed for adulthood.

The successful candidate will contribute to service development, multi-agency working, and provide guidance to staff supporting complex cases. If you are passionate about empowering care-experienced young people and driving service improvement, we encourage you to apply.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor
  • Excellent communication skills with children, young people, their families/carers and professionals.
  • Experience of working with children and young people their families and carers.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).

The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.

This post attracts a Market Supplement of £3,551 per annum, in addition to the annual salary, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments.
