The Grade 8 Social Worker is based within the Community Adults Team in Crewe and supports adults aged 18 and over with care and support needs. The role sits within Adult Social Care and involves undertaking strengths-based assessments, safeguarding enquiries, care planning, and reviewing support arrangements to promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

About the Role:
1. Assess the need for social work service including the identification of risk and the need for protection and determine the method of intervention.
2. Decide or advise on the use of appropriate Social Services and/or other resources.
3. Liaise and negotiate with other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that the best possible service is provided for clients.
4. Manage an allocated workload within individual and group priorities and County policies.
5. Comply with the statutory obligations of the Department.
6. Maintain appropriate records of work undertaken and carry out required administrative procedures.
7. Prepare for and attend supervision sessions and staff meetings and make use of all available training and developmental opportunities.
8. Contribute to the evaluation and development of services and new ideas by sharing knowledge about theory, skills and practice with other Social Services staff, professional groups and interested bodies.
About you:
- Holds a Diploma, Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
- Has experience of working within a statutory social work setting.
- Has experience of undertaking assessments during periods of crisis or significant change in a person's circumstances.
- Has experience of working with vulnerable adults and safeguarding processes.
- Has knowledge and practical experience of applying the Mental Capacity Act.
- Has experience of working collaboratively with health professionals and a range of partner organisations.
- Has a sound understanding of the statutory and policy framework underpinning Adult Social Care.
- Understands and can apply strengths-based practice, personalisation and direct payments.
- Has knowledge of local community resources, including Third Sector and voluntary organisations.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Has strong assessment, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Is able to organise, prioritise and manage a varied workload effectively.
- Can work within a performance management framework and meet service expectations.
- Has a positive and adaptable approach to change.
- Works effectively as part of a team and is willing to support and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Has good IT skills and can maintain accurate, timely and defensible case records.
