At Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, safeguarding is more than a statutory duty.

It is a moral commitment to uphold the rights, dignity, and safety of adults at risk.

Our Adult Safeguarding Team is at the forefront of protecting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. We work with compassion, professionalism, and determination to ensure adults experiencing or at risk of abuse and neglect receive the support, protection, and respect they deserve.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our dedicated safeguarding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading safeguarding enquiries, managing complex and sensitive situations, and making informed decisions that have a direct and lasting impact on people's lives.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are committed to ethical, strengths-based practice and outcome focussed practice, we would love to hear from you.

As an Adult Safeguarding Social Worker, you will:
  • Lead safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014.
  • Work directly with adults at risk, their families, carers, and advocates.
  • Collaborate effectively with a wide range of multi-agency partners to achieve safe and positive outcomes.
  • Assess and manage risk, implement protection plans, and promote wellbeing and independence.
  • Provide safeguarding advice, guidance, and support across Adult Social Care services.
  • Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safeguarding practice is person-centred, strengths-based, and rights-focused.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience within Adult Social Care and safeguarding practice.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policy, and best practice guidance.
  • Experience managing complex cases and undertaking multi-agency safeguarding work.
  • Excellent analytical, assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • The confidence to work autonomously whilst contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
  • A commitment to rights-based, person-centred practice that empowers individuals and promotes positive outcomes.
We recognise that our people are our greatest asset. In return, we offer:
  • Competitive salary and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Access to a comprehensive programme of training, learning, and continuing professional development.
  • Regular professional supervision and management support.
  • A welcoming, supportive, and collaborative team culture.
  • Opportunities to influence safeguarding practice, service development, and strategic direction.
  • A rewarding career where you can make a real difference to people's lives.
This is more than a social work role. It is an opportunity to be part of a team that protects, empowers, and advocates for adults at risk across Redcar and Cleveland.

If you are passionate about safeguarding, committed to excellence in practice, and ready to help shape a safer and more inclusive community, we encourage you to apply.
