About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified and motivated Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. In this rewarding role, you will work with children and young people who are looked after by the local authority, ensuring they receive the support, stability and opportunities they need to flourish. You will develop meaningful relationships with children, carers, families and partner agencies, helping to deliver high-quality plans that promote safety, permanence and positive outcomes.

You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, undertaking statutory responsibilities, chairing and contributing to professional meetings, completing assessments and care planning, and ensuring that the voice of the child remains central to all decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking service that values relationship-based practice, reflective supervision and continuous improvement.

About You

We are seeking a passionate and child-centred Social Worker who is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children in care. You will be an effective practitioner with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, carers and professional partners. You will be confident in managing complex cases, demonstrating sound professional judgement and delivering high-quality social work practice that promotes safety, stability and permanence.

Key Skills and Experience
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Experience of working with children and families within a statutory social work setting.
• Knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance and policy relating to children in care and safeguarding.
• Experience of undertaking assessments, care planning, risk management and direct work with children and young people.
• Ability to build effective relationships with children, carers, families and multi-agency partners.
• Strong analytical, assessment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage a complex caseload and prioritise competing demands effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and court-related documentation where required.
• Commitment to relationship-based practice and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and their application in social work practice.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
