Social Worker – Disabled Children’s Service

Our Disabled Children’s Service is looking for dedicated and experienced Social Workers who are passionate about making a difference. You'll play a vital role in delivering statutory services and supporting disabled children, young people and their families, helping to ensure they are safe, supported and empowered to achieve the best possible outcomes.

About Us

Our Disabled Children’s Service provides specialist support to disabled children, young people and their families across the full range of statutory social work responsibilities, including assessments, child in need, child protection, children in care and transition to adulthood.

Working collaboratively with health, education, care and community partners, we take a joined-up approach to delivering tailored support that helps children and young people reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a Social Worker within our service, you'll be a knowledgeable and confident practitioner, supporting disabled children, young people and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You'll manage a varied caseload across a range of statutory responsibilities, building strong relationships, delivering high-quality assessments, and working collaboratively with partners to provide the right support at the right time.

Through creative, strengths-based practice, you'll help children and young people thrive, champion restorative approaches, and consistently deliver high standards of social work that make a lasting difference.

About You

• Strong knowledge of legislation, policy and best practice relating to children's social work.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, families and partner agencies.
• Experience of working within statutory social care, including multi-agency and court settings.
• A recognised Social Work qualification, Social Work England registration, and successful completion of ASYE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working in Children’s Social Care at Devon County Council

Our Disabled Children's Service supports children and families across the whole of Devon, with teams located in South Devon, North Devon, Exeter and Mid & East Devon.
