About the Role
The Safeguarding Adults Team plays a key role in delivering the Council's statutory safeguarding responsibilities under the Care Act 2014. The team provides specialist safeguarding expertise, oversight and coordination to ensure adults with care and support needs are protected from abuse and neglect, whilst promoting wellbeing, choice and control through the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal.
A core function of the team is the triage and screening of safeguarding concerns, ensuring that referrals are assessed promptly and that appropriate and proportionate decisions are made regarding safeguarding interventions. The team works closely with
operational teams and partner agencies to identify risk and ensure timely responses to concerns.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking and coordinating Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries, managing complex safeguarding situations and working collaboratively with individuals, families and partner organisations to achieve positive outcomes. You will be expected to analyse risk, apply relevant legislation and guidance, and support decision-making in situations where there may be competing rights, risks and responsibilities.
Working closely with health services, care providers, police, housing and other key partners, you will contribute to a strong multi-agency safeguarding approach, providing professional advice, supporting best practice and helping to develop a culture of continuous learning and improvement across Adult Social Care.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist safeguarding knowledge and experience while making a significant contribution to protecting some of the most
vulnerable people in our communities.
