Social Workers – Adults Social Care

We are looking for Social Workers to work in our Adult Disability Team and Duty Team who are enthusiastic and passionate about changing the lives of people with care and support needs, and carers, through the promotion of wellbeing and choice, making a real difference and enabling them to increase their independence and have fulfilling lives, free from harm and abuse.

Adult Disability Team

You will be based at Moat Lane in central Solihull, supporting adults with a learning disability, physical disability and/or autism. You will be part of a highly experienced and dedicated team, embedding a strengths-based model of assessment and support, promoting independence and well-being and achieving better outcomes for people, carers and their families.

Duty Team

Based at the Bluebell Centre, Chelmlsey Wood, our Duty Team’s primary function is to deal with new requests for support within Adult Social Care between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Working in this a fast paced, duty setting, you will work with adults of any age who need support and advice from us for a wide range of reasons. At times, this may include setting up short term care in emergency situations or dealing with safeguarding concerns. You’ll provide support to the main Duty Team.

We’re seeking two experienced Social Workers specialising in Continuing Healthcare. You’ll need a strong background in this area, along with experience of contributing to multidisciplinary meetings and working collaboratively with partner agencies.

You would be joining Solihull at an exciting time as the Council changes the way in which it delivers its services, and we work in a more agile way. As a Social Worker in Solihull, you will benefit from manageable caseloads and an inclusive and supportive team culture with great scope for professional development.

We also offer comprehensive training with opportunities to study to be an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, Best Interest Assessor or a Practice Educator which provides a positive base for supervision skills and helps you to deliver training. There is also the 12-month Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) for newly qualified social workers.

Social Work England registration fees are paid for people who have completed their Social Work qualification.

We are looking for people who have:

  • A professional Social Work qualification and be Social Work England registered or be in the final academic year of a professional Social Work qualification with pending Social Work England registration.
  • Knowledge of, safeguarding principles and relevant legislation
  • Experience of delivering person-centred and strengths-based working including assessments and reviews
  • Detailed knowledge of the care legislation including the continuing health care framework.
  • Experience of assessment, the development and planning of care and of positive risk management
  • Effective communication skills and experience of collaborative working to build effective working relationships.
