Band 10 | £50,269 - £54,495 | Full-time (37 hours) | Permanent
Based at County Hall, Morpeth (countywide role)

Are you an experienced, social worker, nurse or occupational therapist looking to take the next step in your career?

Northumberland County Council is seeking a skilled and motivated professional to join our Risk and Independence Team, a friendly, supportive and highly experienced team at the heart of Adult Social Care.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a specialist, countywide role, where your expertise will shape practice, support teams, and make a real difference to people’s independence and outcomes.

As a Specialist Advisor and Reviewing Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance across Adult Social Care services
  • Support teams to embed strengths-based, person-centred practice
  • Lead on positive risk assessment to maximise independence
  • Complete high-quality Care Act assessments and reviews
  • Work across a wide range of services, including:
    • Care and Support
    • Mental Health
    • Learning Disabilities
    • Head Injury services
    • Transitions
  • Contribute to robust, safe and cost-effective care planning

You’ll be part of a collaborative team with strong commissioning links, where knowledge sharing and professional development are actively encouraged.


About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a relevant professional qualification with up to date registration
  • Has strong knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and frameworks
  • Is confident in risk assessment and complex decision-making
  • Communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Produces clear, high-quality reports and assessments
  • Is passionate about promoting independence and positive outcomes for our service users and their carers
