The role:

We're looking for a proactive and committed professional to join the Statutory School Attendance Service as a Statutory School Attendance Officer. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, young people, and families across the city.

As a Statutory School Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting schools to improve attendance and fulfil the council's statutory responsibilities in relation to school attendance.

You will:

  • Act as the main point of contact for schools in Liverpool, providing expert advice and guidance on attendance and inclusion
  • Support schools in meeting their legal responsibilities around school attendance
  • Undertake statutory interventions in cases of persistent or severe absence
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and partner agencies to remove barriers to attendance
  • Contribute to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
