Strategic Programme Lead (Asylum Seekers & Refugees)

An opportunity to lead a high profile and important portfolio

We are looking for a thoughtful and collaborative Strategic Programme Lead to help shape Plymouth’s approach to asylum, refugee and resettlement work, alongside wider inclusion, community cohesion and Gypsy Roma Traveller engagement.

This is a varied and rewarding role, working with colleagues and partners to bring programmes together, strengthen local arrangements, and support people and communities across the city.

About the role

You will lead a broad portfolio covering resettlement, asylum dispersal, integration, community cohesion, Gypsy Roma Traveller engagement and the Council’s response to unauthorised encampments.

You will bring people together, develop clear plans, manage risks, oversee funding and commissioned activity, and help the Council respond well to changing national policy.

About you

You will be an experienced programme leader who is comfortable working across organisational boundaries, building trust with partners, and turning complex issues into practical action.

You will communicate clearly, work with sensitivity and confidence, and bring a steady, inclusive approach to work that can be high profile and fast moving.

Experience of asylum, refugee or resettlement policy, and working with this cohort is essential
