Structural Safety Compliance Manager

Permanent | Full-time (35 hours per week) | 30 Days Annual Leave Plus Bank Holidays
Monday is our mandatory office day

We’re looking for an experienced structural engineer who cares about getting things right for residents and wants to make a real difference to building safety.

In this role, you’ll help us keep our high‑risk buildings safe, strong and compliant. You’ll provide expert advice on structural integrity, lead the client‑side oversight of structural inspections, and play an important part in our Safety Case Reports, Building Assessment Certificate applications and Gateway submissions.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Building Safety, Fire Safety, Development, Repairs and Asset teams, as well as external consultants and the Building Safety Regulator. Your work will directly support our Golden Thread of Information and help us meet our responsibilities under the Building Safety Act.

If you enjoy using your technical expertise to solve problems, build strong relationships and improve safety for residents, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing specialist structural engineering input for our high‑risk building portfolio.
  • Overseeing consultant appointments for structural inspections and surveys, ensuring high‑quality, consistent outputs.
  • Supporting Safety Case Reports and the collation of key building information.
  • Helping manage structural safety risks, including in Large Panel System buildings.
  • Supporting colleagues across Repairs, Fire Remediation and Asset teams with expert advice.
  • Acting as our structural engineering expert across Gateway 1, 2 and 3.
  • Contributing to effective information management as part of the Golden Thread.

What we’re looking for

  • A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with strong post‑qualification experience.
  • Experience working on high‑rise residential buildings in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of structural, fire and building life safety principles.
  • Good understanding of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and associated guidance.
  • Someone who is organised, clear in their communication and able to explain technical details simply.
  • A team player who shares our values: be kind, do the right thing, love new ideas, celebrate diversity, keep our promises, and pull together.

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience in structural inspections, surveys and reporting.
  • Knowledge of BRE guidance, Eurocodes and LPS building risk assessment.
  • Experience working in the social housing sector.
  • Confidence with document and information management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Excel).

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a supportive team who care deeply about the work they do and the difference it makes to residents' lives. We celebrate diversity, encourage new ideas, and support our people to grow and develop.

If you’re motivated by helping others, thrive in a service‑focused environment, and are looking to be part of a team that keeps its promises this could be the perfect next step for you.

Where you’ll work

Our office day is Monday at our office in Waterloo. Your second office day can be from an office of your choice. You may occasionally be asked to attend meetings at our offices across Peabody.

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive and dedicated service that puts residents at the heart of everything we do. We value kindness, doing the right thing, loving new ideas, celebrating diversity, keeping our promises, and pulling together to deliver a great service every time.

Here’s what you’ll get when you join us:

  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • 30 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Up to 10% pension contribution, matched 1:1
  • Two additional paid volunteering days each year
  • Flexible benefits scheme, including options for healthcare, dental care, and more

What to expect from our recruitment process

We’re committed to a fair, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process.

Interviews will take place in person w/c 6 April.
