A vacancy is being advertised for a Supervisor within the Waste Strategy and Operations Group of Caerphilly County Borough Council. This exciting opportunity would entail providing high-quality, cost-effective services across a wide range of waste management functions (e.g. Waste Collections, Street Cleansing, Household Waste Recycling, Waste Treatment and Waste Transfer) and increase Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) recycling performance whilst contributing to the achievement of Welsh Government and European targets.
The successful applicant would be expected to effectively manage allocated workforce and resources within a prescribed budget. Effectively manage all operations in allocated work area, ensuring all work undertaken complies with both ISO and Health and Safety requirements and undertake regular inspections.
Candidates should have Level 4 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework in Waste Management and/or a relevant qualification and experience of instructing, monitoring and managing contracts and contractors and managing work projects.
Experience of dealing with the public in a service delivery environment and managing a team of waste operatives is an essential requirement. In addition, the post holder will assist the Principal Officers in the management, development and improvement of the service, assist in the implementation of the Medium-Term Financial Plan savings requirements each year and other service improvement objectives and ensure compliance with all Council Policies and Procedures. Effective record management is also essential to service delivery, ensuring all related documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales.
For the role, we ask that you have:
- Up to date knowledge of Waste Management issues.
- Financial skills and the ability to manage a budget.
- Experience of Local Authority Waste Management.
- Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings or to drive a Council van shared with other Supervisors.
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours, weekends and bank holidays both in emergency situations or where tasks relevant to the post demand.
