About the role
Role Summary
Working with Asset Investment colleagues and under the direction of the Senior Project Manager, the apprenticeship will be for the duration of 24 months and will include working as part of the Asset Investment team, which delivers planned repair and improvement programmes and maintains our property database.
Liaise with internal and external customers and service providers. The apprenticeship will provide you with a structured learning path to gain practical experience across various building surveying functions while learning essential skills in organisation, communication, and project coordination. Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will provide technical support in the delivery of those programmes.

What will you be doing?
Role Specific Responsibilities
During your apprenticeship you will
- Dedicate at least 20% of your working hours to training or studying by attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings to gain essential knowledge in the field.
- Participate in off and on-the-job training to apply your learning in real-world scenarios, enhancing your practical skills and understanding.
- Complete assignments, assessments, and coursework to fulfil the programmes requirements.
- Engage in 1:1 sessions and performance reviews, providing valuable insights for personal growth and skill development.
- Receive mentoring and support from experienced professionals, offering guidance to help you succeed.
- Have opportunities for career development within the company, exploring potential growth and advancement.
- Complete a final end point assessment to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and competence at the end of your apprenticeship. If you have not yet achieved a Level 2 in Functional Skills in math’s and English (or equivalent, such as GCSEs at grades A-C/9-4), you will also be required to complete these qualifications during your apprenticeship.
The initial training period will provide a better understanding of the departments in Town and Country Housing and will also require administration tasks to be undertaken such as:
•Bulk mailing
•Updating spreadsheets
•Data entry
The Apprentice will shadow the Senior Project Managers:
•Shadow on site visits, surveys and appropriate meetings for the purpose of defects diagnosis, repair, alteration, improvement and collection of stock condition data.
•Assist Project Managers with additional projects, administration and related duties
The Apprentice will shadow the Asset Surveyors:
•Shadow surveys on identified properties
•Assist to arrange access for the Asset Surveyor to undertake condition surveys
•Assist to create a photographic record, validating the condition of the property
•Assist with customer enquiries
Further to the initial training period, the Apprentice will move towards more project orientated tasks that assist the Apprentice to gain a wider understanding of project management, including procurement, contract administration and customer liaison.
•Shadow the Senior Project Manager through the procurement of a contract and assist with related tasks
•Support Senior Project Managers on the delivery of projects including site surveys, inspections, contract meetings, valuations and payments
•Assist with customer liaison
•Receive and resolve customer queries and maintain CRM records.
•Monitor complaint resolution and maintain CRM records.
The second part of the Apprenticeship will enable the Apprentice to gain insight into the more specialised construction disciplines. The Apprentice will also gain some independence and, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, work on their own small projects:
•Draft a project brief
•Produce a specification or design
•Obtain quotes
•Liaise with customers
•Checking completed work
•Contractor payments
During this period, the Apprentice will also:
•Shadow the party wall process.
•Assist with a project that has consultant involvement.
•Assist with a statutory compliance function, such as asbestos management
General

•Take responsibility for recognising and recording customer complaints, however made, and ensure that any complaints allocated to you are responded to within policy requirements.
•Maintain professional curiosity in all interactions with residents, be aware of and report and record any potential safeguarding issues promptly and appropriately.
•Maintain awareness of budget requirements and value for money while delivering your role.
•Consider and highlight any risk to the organisation or individuals whilst delivering your role.
•Consider resident feedback (the resident voice) in all service delivery, using data and insight and actively engaging with residents to understand their needs, views and priorities and tailor services accordingly.
•This role will involve visiting other offices and stock and you will be required to have your own car and full driving licence, or be actively working towards gaining a driving licence and car.
APPRENTICESHIP
This is a Level 3 Surveying Apprenticeship over 24 months, with at least 20% of your time dedicated to training. During this time, you will attend workshops, receive one-on-one mentoring, and apply your learning to real-world tasks. Upon completing the apprenticeship, you’ll have a final assessment to demonstrate your skills and readiness for a career in surveying. As part of your 15 month apprenticeship you will:

About You
Education & Qualifications
•Level 2 qualifications (equivalent to 5 GCSEs)
•Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and Outlook.
•High attention to detail with a problem solving approach.
•As an apprentice you will receive training to help you gain the knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to be competent in your role.
•You will need to keep a detailed calendar, record dates, times, locations and details of every training session.
•Six hours a week you will undergo on the job learning, which will be in all areas of the Asset Investment Team
•You will have a 1-2-1 once a month with your external skills trainer.
•You will undergo a progress review every 10-12 weeks
•The apprenticeship will last 15 months, at the end of which you be a qualified Building Surveying Apprentice.

To be eligible for apprenticeship funding you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must have been a resident in the UK, or EEA, Switzerland, or Gibraltar if you are an EEA national with pre-settled status in the EUSS, for at least the previous three years (you will be asked to provide evidence of this)
- You must not hold a qualification at the same level or higher in the same subject
- You will need to be 18 or older at the start of the apprenticeship
