Job Description
Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People | 11355 | Permanent Contract | 32.5 hours per week | £34,069 to £52,832 per annum | NAUPRCET16 | Countywide
We have an exciting opportunity within the Virtual School Sensory Support (VSSS) for a Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People.
Virtual School Sensory Support (VSSS) is part of Norfolk County Council’s Inclusion and Opportunity service. VSSS is a county-wide specialist service supporting children and young people with sensory loss from birth to 25 across homes, early years settings, mainstream and specialist schools, sixth forms and further education colleges.
To be successful in this role, you will be a dedicated, experienced qualified teacher with a proven track record of working with others with a focus on improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You will either hold the mandatory qualification as a Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People or be willing to undertake this specialist qualification as part of your professional development.
You will be joining a close-knit, experienced and supportive team whose members work collaboratively, share their expertise and support one another to achieve the best possible outcomes. A strong team fit is therefore essential: you will be approachable, an excellent communicator and someone who values open dialogue, shared problem-solving and positive professional relationships.
This is a fast-paced and varied role supporting a large and diverse caseload of deaf children and young people across Norfolk. You will need to think flexibly, respond confidently to changing priorities and use your professional judgement to tailor support to individual needs. Creative, solution-focused practice and effective partnership working with children and young people, families, educational settings, and colleagues across health and social care will be central to the role.
This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a highly regarded and forward-thinking service. Working alongside colleagues who are recognised locally and nationally for delivering positive outcomes and championing inclusion, you will contribute actively to the team’s collective success while bringing your own strengths, ideas and specialist expertise.
