Roles are either ‘site based’ or ‘home based’.

Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs.

Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week.

The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.

Job Introduction

We’re recruiting a Team Manager - Contextual Safeguarding to join our Children and Families service at Milton Keynes City Council.

You’ll lead a dedicated team working with children and young people who are at risk of exploitation, serious youth violence, and other complex safeguarding concerns.This is a rewarding leadership role where you’ll shape how we respond to risk, improve outcomes, and support children to live safely within their families and communities wherever possible.

Site-Based role

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-agency team to deliver high quality safeguarding interventions for children at risk of exploitation and harm.
  • Ensure all casework, assessments and care planning meet statutory requirements and inspection standards.
  • Oversee allocation, supervision and performance management of colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Chair complex meetings including strategy discussions, legal planning and multi-agency panels.
  • Provide leadership on risk management, decision making and safeguarding practice in highly complex situations.
  • Manage resources and budgets effectively to deliver the greatest impact for children and families.
Ideal Candidate
  • As a qualified social work professional, you’ll bring significant post qualification experience in children’s safeguarding.
  • With strong knowledge of exploitation and complex risk, you’ll confidently manage challenging casework and guide others.
  • Through your leadership style, you’ll motivate, coach and support colleagues to deliver high quality practice.
  • By working collaboratively with partner agencies, you’ll help ensure children and young people are effectively safeguarded.
  • Using clear communication, you’ll challenge appropriately, influence others and build strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrating our values, you’ll be dedicated, respectful and collaborative in everything you do.

As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, (unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service).
