Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Team Manager to lead our Out of Hours Team delivering a high-quality out-of-hours safeguarding service for children and families.

This is a critical leadership role, ensuring that urgent safeguarding concerns are responded to promptly and effectively outside of core hours. You will provide management oversight of complex and high-risk situations, supporting your team to make timely, proportionate, and defensible decisions to safeguard children and young people.

Working within a fast-paced and unpredictable environment, you will collaborate with key partners including Police, Health, and other emergency services to deliver coordinated responses when it matters most.

As part of our ongoing improvement journey, you will play a key role in embedding a relationship-based, strengths-focused approach across the service, enabling clear risk analysis, balancing strengths and concerns, and informing effective safety planning in time-critical situations.

About You

We are looking for a resilient and experienced leader who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in children’s social care, with a strong safeguarding and child protection background
  • Experience of working in EDT, out-of-hours, front door, or crisis response services
  • Proven ability to lead and support staff in high-pressure and complex situations
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to make defensible safeguarding decisions with limited information
  • Experience of applying strengths-based practice models in assessing and managing risk
  • Confidence in providing management oversight on high-risk and urgent cases
  • Experience of multi-agency working, particularly with Police and emergency services
  • Strong leadership skills, including supervision, guidance, and support to staff working shifts
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation ,Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery

This post will require you to be on the out of hours Duty Rota.

This post will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS.
