About the Role

The Combined Authority is in the middle of a critical period of change and growth and we are looking to strengthen the Finance Service at such an exciting time, delivering the new emerging devolved financial management arrangements. As such we are looking for new team members to join us to help influence and shape the future of the service. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and opportunities that exist both now and in the future.

The Technical Accountant is a key member of the strategic and technical team delivering a comprehensive specialist accounting service, including treasury management, capital accounting, closure of accounts and financial management. About the person

The successful candidate will be a CCAB qualified accountant with demonstrable experience in a similar role. They will have strong technical acumen with a detailed understanding of the applicability of relevant accounting standards and conventions and be confident in their use of information technology especially financial ledgers.

We are looking for ambitious, highly committed, skilled and proactive people with a focus on delivering an exceptional, high quality service which enables and informs organisational decision making.

Required skills and knowledge:

  • -A proven track record of closing revenue and capital accounts as part of month end and year end processes
  • -A detailed knowledge of local authority finances
  • -Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • -An ability to demonstrate our core values, including a commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • -Experience of contributing to a high-performance culture
