Salary: £28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)
Working Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Fixed Term for 12 months

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician within our Highway Control team at Leicestershire County Council.
Do you want to join a motivated, friendly team of professionals to support the undertaking of design and delivery of highway infrastructure programmes and projects across the service area. This may include estimating, consultations, contract management and supervision or administrative processes, ensuring that these meet current standards and that schemes are delivered to time, quality and cost.
Can you assist in the preparation and presentation of general information, documents, projects and reports relating to the work of the service area, and to assist in the research and analysis of data and help in the preparation, monitoring and review of relevant budgets.
This role involving a mixture of site, office and home working, to suit the needs of the business. The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- A good standard of education including NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects, or demonstratable experience outlined in the Person Specification together with a commitment to attain the essential qualifications.
- Experience of working in an engineering setting, including design, management, maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure.
- Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs and of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings.
- Experience of engaging with customers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions.
- Knowledge of current highways legislation relevant to the service area; it would be ideal if you also have knowledge of CDM regulations and current highway design standards, construction techniques, asset management principles or maintenance standards.
- Good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software and are able to interpret maps, plans and engineering drawings.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, you also have good organisational skills and are able to prioritise work.
