Job summary

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.

HMLR are recruiting for experienced Test Manager's to join our Transformation and Technology team to help us achieve this.

HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £8 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.

Job description

As a Test Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring that quality is built into the development of all solutions at all stages within the development lifecycle. You will provide expert practice advice and guidance as well as practical advice on complex technical testing issues at project level. You will also be accountable for driving forward the quality agenda in the development of IT solutions and devising and monitoring progress using a range of quality metrics.

You will be responsible for developing capability within the test discipline and increasing knowledge and understanding of the importance of building in quality across the wider development community.

Please note that there is a minimum requirement of 30 hours per week.

This role may involve occasional travel which may include stays away from home.

This role may include weekend working to provide support to live assurance testing during deployment to Production.

Person specification

To be successful in this role, you will hold the following:

ISTQB Foundation in Software Testing

And

  • Communicating between the technical and non-technical
  • Designing and executing tests
  • Managing, reporting and resolving defects
  • Test analysis
  • Test quality and planning
  • Test engineering

You will have experience in data migrations, data warehousing and data analytics.

You will have experience of communication between the technical and non-technical, conveying information using the most effective medium and language for the audience.

You will have experience of designing and executing tests, applying appropriate test types and techniques to create and run tests that align to user needs and requirements.

You will have experience of managing, reporting and resolving defects by reporting progress, outcomes and issues, whilst contributing to improving defect management processes.

You will have Test analysis skills involving analysing information, such as requirements, user stories, designs and specifications, to identify and understand how to act on risks to a test.

You will have experience of Test and quality planning, creating, following and adapting quality testing activities to ensure the quality of products, services and programmes.

You will have experience of Test engineering, developing test automation solutions that enable fast feedback on quality characteristics.

You will have experience of coding and upskilling others in test automation and test techniques.

HMLR expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.
