We're looking for a Traffic Management Technician to join our Traffic Management Team, supporting the coordination and processing of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) across Westmorland and Furness.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll review applications, maps and traffic management proposals, working with colleagues, utility companies, contractors, event organisers and members of the public to help ensure activities on the highway can take place safely and efficiently.

Whether you have experience in highways and traffic management, administration, customer service, planning, logistics or another related field, we'd love to hear from you. Full training will be provided.

What you’ll be doing:

• Processing applications for temporary road closures, traffic restrictions and other TTROs across the Westmorland and Furness highway network.
• Coordinating with applicants, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure safe and effective traffic management.
• Reviewing applications, maps and supporting information, and working with colleagues to resolve queries and ensure temporary restrictions are processed correctly.
• Helping to deliver over 1,000 TTROs each year, supporting communities, businesses and the local economy.
• Contributing to wider Traffic Management activities, including supporting the design and implementation of permanent highway improvements where required.

• Is highly organised, accurate and able to manage a varied workload.
• Communicates clearly and confidently with a wide range of people
• Has good IT skills and is comfortable using Microsoft 365 applications and digital systems
• Can read and interpret maps confidently
• Enjoys problem solving and working collaboratively as part of a team
• Is committed to delivering excellent customer service
• Has a proactive, positive approach and enjoys making a difference in local communities.

Knowledge of the Westmorland and Furness area would be advantageous, helping you understand the local road network and communities we serve.

An understanding of traffic management, road closures or traffic restrictions would be beneficial but is not essential. Full training and support will be provided to help you develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the role.
