About the Roles

The Combined Authority is in the middle of a critical period of change and growth and we are looking to strengthen the Finance Service at such an exciting time, delivering the new emerging devolved financial management arrangements. As such we are looking for new team members to join us to help influence and shape the future of the service. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and opportunities that exist both now and in the future.

You will be responsible for supporting various areas of the Finance Team including Management Accounts, Technical & Financial Accounts, Systems and Financial Planning & Strategy. The role will be varied and will offer excellent ‘on the job training’ we will also support your professional training to achieve a recognised accountancy qualification. This is a great chance to support the important work we do while also developing your talents for the next stage in your career. About the person

The successful candidates will have taken the first steps in the finance career and will have already registered with a CCAB body to begin their professional training. Strong numeracy and IT skills will be required as will strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take the initiative to support the delivery teams across the authority.

We are looking for ambitious, highly committed, skilled and proactive people with a focus on delivering an exceptional, high quality service which enables and informs organisational decision making.

Required skills and knowledge:

  • -Experience of working within a finance service
  • -Understanding and experience of application of accounting principles and processes
  • -Experience of using a financial ledger system
  • -Ability to self-motivate and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
  • -An ability to demonstrate our core values, including a commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • -Experience of contributing to a high-performance culture
