Description

Derbyshire Constabulary are excepting transferee applications for the role Organised Crime Group Investigator (North and South) - Constable and Detective Constable

The Organised Crime Group (OCG) forms part of the Crime Directorate within Serious and Organised Crime (SOC).

There are two OCG teams across the force, working closely together from bases at St Mary's Wharf, Derby and Beetwell Street, Chesterfield.

About the Team

The OCG is responsible for investigating organised groups and individuals who have the capacity and capability to commit serious criminal offences. The team works to reduce the threat, risk and harm posed by these offenders and protect our communities from the impact of serious and organised crime.

Our work is managed through the nationally recognised 4P approach:

  • Pursue – identifying and disrupting offenders
  • Prevent – stopping individuals becoming involved in criminality
  • Protect – safeguarding communities and vulnerable people
  • Prepare – reducing the impact of criminal activity

The team develops and manages intelligence, undertaking proactive operations designed to deter, disrupt and dismantle Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) and High-Risk Individuals (HRIs). This is achieved through a wide range of tactics, including intelligence-led operations, enforcement activity and partnership working with other agencies.

OCG also holds primacy for investigations involving the criminal use of firearms, including firearms discharges.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a proactive approach, strong investigative skills and a genuine interest in disrupting serious criminality.

Key points:

  • Predominantly Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00 hours
  • Flexibility is essential to meet operational demands
  • Occasional late shifts, extended hours and weekend working may be required at short notice
  • Plain clothes role
  • Successful applicants will be required to wear either office attire or appropriate casual clothing depending on operational requirements

Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Detective Constables
  • Police Constables willing to work towards a PIP2 qualification (PC-DC pathway)
  • Police Constables

Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred pathway and working location later in the recruitment process.

Future Opportunities

It is anticipated that a number of vacancies will arise over the next 12 months. A reserve/pass list will therefore be maintained and used to fill future vacancies as they become available.
