We are looking for an organised, customer-focused Unit Support Officer to join our Licensing team and help deliver a high-quality, responsive service to residents, businesses and partners.

This is an important role, supporting the management, development and improvement of our Tree Service which is highly valued and at the heart of the Council’s work combating climate change and the biodiversity crisis.

About the role:
As the Tree Administration Officer, you’ll be responsible for delivering business support activities for the service, ensuring the highest standards customer service, assisting a fantastic team of tree managers and officers.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to Trees and Parks, including correspondence from residents, Members, MPs and external stakeholders, ensuring responses are delivered within corporate timescales.
- Monitor and report on correspondence performance, providing insight to the division and supporting continuous improvement.
- Support the delivery of the Tree Service through effective contract administration, issuing works and monitoring compliance with schedules.
- Lead the rollout and effective use of business systems and procedures, with a strong focus on maximising the benefits of IT.
- Prepare, analyse and present technical and non-technical reports, briefing papers and performance information.
- Support budget management, including processing payments to contractors, raising purchase orders and monitoring expenditure.
- Coordinate meetings and events for senior management, including agendas, papers, minutes and follow-up actions.
- Act as a central information hub, collating, managing and cascading information to support decision-making and performance management.
What We're Looking For
You will be highly organised, adaptable and motivated by delivering excellent customer service. You will bring:
- An understanding of the importance of trees, parks and the natural environment in an inner-city setting.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience setting up and maintaining administrative systems and complex records.
- Confidence liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and correspondence.
- Experience using IT systems and software, including Word and Excel, to manage and present information.
