Job Title: Tree and Countryside Team Leader

Location of work: Earlswood Depot

Salary: £40,983- £48,075 (dependant on experience)

Basis: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Tree and Countryside Team Leader who will lead and support the development, implementation, and effective delivery of high-quality tree management, and countryside services across the Borough.

Working within the Greenspaces team, you will provide expert advice on biodiversity, arboriculture, and countryside matters, whilst overseeing existing Tree and Countryside Officers.

Some duties include:

  • To oversee the delivery of the Greenspaces arboriculture and countryside service areas, dealing with and resolving service-related matters on a day-to-day basis and escalating them where appropriate.
  • To manage the planning, monitoring & delivery of smaller-scale service-level projects such as tree planting and habitat improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the Borough’s tree stock is inspected, maintained, and managed in line with industry best practices, legislation and insurance requirements.
  • Monitor and manage relevant service budgets, ensuring value for money and adherence to financial protocols, reporting any exceptions or variances.
  • Review and improve internal processes and site management plans for efficiency and effectiveness, to enhance biodiversity and support the reporting and monitoring of ecological sites.

About the Person:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within greenspace, tree management, or countryside services.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and best practices in arboriculture and habitat management.
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of IT software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of GIS or tree management software systems.
  • Able to demonstrate financial awareness of the services being provided and experience in budget monitoring.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent environmental and ecological awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Have a degree or relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Countryside Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Salary range

  • £40,983 - £48,075 per year
