Job description
UKSV is at the forefront of national security vetting. What you will be doing:
As a Vetting Caseworker, you will play a vital role in the end-to-end vetting process. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and Verifying Applications: Managing vetting applications, checking identities and information provided to ensure accuracy;
- Stakeholder Communication: Responding to enquiries from applicants, sponsors, and others via email and phone, clarifying requirements, requesting missing information, and keeping stakeholders informed;
- Data Security and Confidentiality: Handling sensitive personal information with the utmost care, ensuring data privacy and security at all times;
- Service Delivery: Providing high-quality, reliable support by understanding the overall vetting process and how your work contributes to moving applications forward and supporting colleagues. This may include flexing to priority areas of the business outside your core role;
- Working in a target driven environment and being adaptable to change, including being trained / upskilled and deployed to other Delivery areas, in support of the business as and when required.

As a Vetting Caseworker within UK Security Vetting, we are seeking motivated individuals who possess the following qualities:

Additional information:
Where more than one location is advertised, candidates will be posted in merit order by location. You will be asked to state your location preference on your application.
A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
You will be provided all of the necessary training you will require to take on your new role. The first stage of training will be a course which may last up to 10 weeks and during this time you will be required to attend an office location 5 days per week. The course will be followed up by a consolidation period which may last an additional 5 weeks. Both timelines are dependent on how quickly you pick up the role. Once your training is completed you will switch to the hybrid working model. Please note part-time employees would be required to commit to full-time hours for the training period.

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Casework Skills Test.
Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 23.55 on 2nd March 2026. If you fail to complete the online test before the deadline your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the test will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.
There will be maintenance for online tests on Sunday 15th February. This means you will be unable to access the online tests between 12pm and 1pm. There will also be maintenance on Sunday 1st March from 4pm until midnight. Your progress will be saved, and you will be able to continue once the tests are available again.
If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.
The final stage of your application will include -
- A Statement of Suitability (500 words max.) Please use your statement of suitability to explain how you consider your personal skills, qualities and experience provide evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the essential criteria in the person specification section of the job advert.
- You will also be assessed on behaviours at application stage.
Your Statement of Suitability will be assessed against the essential criteria listed in the 'Person Specification' section of the job advert.
Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using your statement of suitability. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift, or progressed straight to assessment/interview.
Should you be successful at sift, you will be invited to attend an interview where you will be assessed on experience, behaviours and strengths.
