This is an exciting opportunity to join our volunteer scheme here at Children’s Services, the scheme is managed by the Resilience Around Families Team and provides opportunity to volunteer across Children’s Services. We are looking to grow our team of volunteers as we move forward in more effectively supporting children and families living on our Island.
Volunteers add real extra value to the great work the staff at Children’s Services are already doing. Volunteering with us will provide you with opportunities to improve your skills knowledge and experience and to meet new people.
You may be retired, in further education, employed or seeking employment. As the largest employer on the island, we are committed to supporting you through your volunteering journey.
Current and future opportunities include:
Journey Buddies:- Provide safe and reliable transport ensuring children arrive on time and feel secure during their journey.
- Support family connections by ensuring children can attend important family sessions with loved ones.
- Build trust and rapport with children, offering a friendly and reassuring presence.
- Act as a supportive role model, demonstrating patience, kindness, and respect.
- Listen attentively to children, giving them space to express themselves during travel.
- Helps maintain consistency in children’s routines by being a dependable figure in their contact arrangements.
- Contributes to the wider community effort of safeguarding and nurturing children’s development.
As a Children’s Services volunteer you will:
- Meet new people
- Improve your skills, knowledge, and experience
- Complete online learning from your own home
- Have a DBS (police) check carried out free of charge
- Gain references
- Obtain experience for entry to social work
- Apprenticeship opportunities
