    Position: Waking Night Worker
    Location: St Albans
    Salary: £26,136 per annum
    Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week - rolling 4-week rota 9.30pm - 8.30am)

    Do you want to make a real difference in people’s lives? We are looking for a caring and committed Waking Night Worker to join our team at Open Door, a night shelter providing emergency accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.

    At Open Door, we create a safe, inclusive space where every individual is treated with compassion and respect. You will work collaboratively with a sleep-in colleague to support people throughout the night, helping them feel empowered, valued and able to move towards greater independence.

    The Role

    • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents overnight
    • Offer emotional support and respond to any crises
    • Communicate clearly and adapt to individual needs
    • Work collaboratively with a sleep-in colleague
    • Promote independence and dignity
    • Maintain accurate records and complete light cleaning duties

    About You

    You are reliable, empathetic and committed to helping others. You will bring strong communication skills and a team-focused approach. Experience is welcome but not essential-full training is provided.
