Maintain workshop excellence that underpins vital delivery
As a Workshop Technician, you’ll be hands-on in producing bespoke products to defined designs, working closely with customers to make sure everything is delivered to the right standard and within agreed time frames. Taking pride in the quality of your work, whilst making sure the workshop runs safely and efficiently – following risk assessments, carrying out daily health and safety checks, and maintaining a clean, organised environment. Alongside production, supporting the upkeep of machinery through planned maintenance, keeping tools and materials in good order, and ensuring stock levels are where they need to be will also be your responsibility.
There’s also a broader part to the role. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to the development of new products, while applying their existing skills and continuing to build new ones, and support the wider team wherever needed. This includes supervising apprentices, helping them grow and develop, and playing an active role in sharing feedback and improving how the team works. By staying up to date with your own professional development and bringing a proactive, collaborative approach, you’ll help strengthen the capability of the Production Unit as a whole.
Apply technical skills in environments where quality matters most
You’re have either a relevant qualification in Carpentry and Joinery, Metalwork, Electronics disciplines, or equivalent demonstrable hands-on experience, along with a solid understanding of workshop health and safety and the safe use of machinery. Confident working from engineering drawings, standards and specifications, you take a precise and methodical approach to your work and understand the importance of getting things right first time. You’re comfortable operating workshop equipment safely and responsibly, and you value maintaining an organised environment where safety and quality go hand in hand.
A team player by nature, you communicate clearly and work well alongside others to get the job done. Keen on building your existing skills, whether that’s developing your knowledge across different engineering disciplines or supporting others in the team. Experience in a similar role or across a range of machining and fitting activities would be an advantage, as would any additional training such as manual handling, forklift operation, first aid or fire warden responsibilities.
