- A Professional Certificate in Effective Practice in Youth Justice or equivalent, or the ability to complete the required Youth Justice Board-recognised qualification within two years.
- Integrity, fairness and a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, partnership working, professional development and flexible evening and weekend work.

- Prepare pre-sentence and referral-order panel reports and provide court representation, bail information and Saturday court cover when required.
- Coordinate planning and review meetings and deliver purposeful one-to-one and group interventions with children, parents and carers.
- Work effectively with specialist staff, police, courts, education, health, voluntary organisations, victims and community partners.
- Maintain complete case-management records, contribute to service targets and quality improvement, and participate fully in supervision and learning.
