About the Job
As the Employer Engagement Officer within the Our Newham Work team, you will be instrumental in driving the borough's employment strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and nurture relationships with local employers and external partners, with the goal of securing job vacancies and apprenticeship opportunities for Newham’s residents. You will work closely with employers to understand their staffing needs and match suitable candidates from the borough, ensuring a perfect fit for both parties.
In this role, you will be responsible for proactively identifying new business opportunities, developing strategies to increase employer engagement, and promoting the Our Newham Work services to the wider business community. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting residents to overcome barriers to employment by providing guidance and linking them with opportunities that align with their skills and career aspirations.
Key Aims and Objectives:
In this role, you will be responsible for increasing employer engagement by developing and implementing strategies that strengthen relationships with employers across key growth sectors such as Construction, Green Skills and Apprenticeships. Your efforts will focus on securing a steady flow of job opportunities and actively sourcing vacancies, ensuring these opportunities are promoted to residents so they can access skilled and well-paid careers.
Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting economic growth by contributing to the borough's Community Wealth Building strategy, helping residents secure meaningful employment that benefits the local economy. A key aspect of the role will be ensuring quality service delivery by effectively matching job seekers with employers, providing a tailored recruitment process that meets the needs of both parties.
