Protecting children from abuse, neglect and exploitation requires joined up leadership and organisations to work effectively together to safeguard children. The Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership (BSCP) is statutory responsible for overseeing the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements in Birmingham.  We are looking for the right person to join the partnership’s Business Support Team, to help deliver our Performance, Quality Assurance and Scrutiny Programme.

The Safeguarding Children Performance and Quality Assurance Programme Manager will play a pivotal role in helping to co-ordinate and deliver a programme of audit activity, surveys and data analysis aimed at identifying systemic improvements in safeguarding practice.  You will work alongside the Co-Chairs of the Quality, Impact and Outcomes Sub-Group (QIO), the Independent Scrutineer, Partnership Business Manager and safeguarding experts across a wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations who are focused on safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people in Birmingham.

The BSCP have published a Business Improvement Plan 2023/25, setting out the strategic safeguarding priorities for the next two years, which informs the work of the Quality Impact and Outcomes Sub-Group.  You will work with colleagues to design, develop and determine the most appropriate methodology to enhance understanding of what is working well and identify areas for improvement in systems and processes to enhance front-line safeguarding partnership practice to achieve better outcome for children and families.

The role requires good understanding of safeguarding children, quality assurance, surveys, performance scorecards, and questionnaires as well as analytical skills and report writing skills to firstly identify key finding, emerging themes, areas for improvement and secondly to produce concise reports setting out the key findings and recommendations.

You will need the ability to communicate and engage effectively with colleagues to build and maintain positive working relationships. You will also have opportunity to present your findings to both strategic leaders and frontline safeguarding practitioners, to share and disseminate important learning across the whole of children's workforce. You will need a sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding and to be able to demonstrate the ability to organise and deliver the audit activity and identify good practice.

The business support team is hosted by the Birmingham children's trust working from their offices in Aston, just outside the city centre traffic congestion zone. If this sounds like you, and you're committed to improving the lives of children in Birmingham, we'd love to hear from you.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit.

Interviews will be held at One Avenue Road, Aston, Birmingham, B6 4DU in October 2024.
