Connaught Special School - SEND Teachers / ECT (Early Careers Teachers)
Salary: Teacher Main Scale/UPS + SEN Allowance
Start date: 1st September 2025 - potential for an earlier start
Contract: Permanent
Since Connaught Special School opened its doors in September 2023, we have embarked on an incredible journey, and this is an exciting opportunity to become a part of our growing community.
There are 14 schools in the Learning in Harmony Trust, including primary, special and early years settings, with sites across the cities of London and Southend. The Trust was formed in 2014, and although our schools serve different communities, we are a highly collaborative organisation with a commitment to living by our shared values and a determination to make a positive difference in society.
We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our dedicated team in teaching roles at Connaught Special School. If you are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse needs, we invite you to explore rewarding opportunities within our Trust.
Every member of staff has the opportunity to play a key role in giving every pupil an exceptional learning experience.
When we open our new permanent site on Royal Road, the school will have a capacity of 105 pupils. We currently provide up to 27 pupil places at a temporary site in co-located Upton Cross Primary School in Newham. This will be increasing by a further 19 places in September 2025.
Connaught Special School welcomes young people with a primary diagnosis of autism and coexisting conditions. We ensure that all our young people receive individual and personalised learning and support.
We provide a stimulating environment where children can be safe and enjoy learning with a dedicated team of staff.
Staff are our most important resource and we invest heavily in CPD based on individual needs. There will be options for career progression at Connaught and our partner schools in the Learning in Harmony Trust in the future for successful applicants.
As an ECT starting out in their career, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced educators, receive tailored professional development, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students. If you will be joining us as an ECT, we will provide:
- Weekly collaborative planning with your year group partner.
- Weekly ECT release time.
- Weekly mentor meetings with an experienced mentor.
- Access to a wide range of CPD opportunities.
- Support from experienced subject leaders in school and across the Trust.
As part of Learning in Harmony Trust (www.lihtrust.uk) you will be joining a friendly, enthusiastic and well-qualified staff team in a highly stimulating and rewarding environment. In addition, we offer a range of non-contractual benefits to our staff including a cycle-to-work scheme, access to premium wellbeing services and Perkbox membership as well as participating in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
If you have the appropriate experience and ambition and you are passionate about outcomes for pupils with SEND, then please contact Nithra Subramaniam (Head of School, Connaught Special School) info@connaught.lihtrust.uk if you would like further information or to arrange a school visit
Closing date: 21st April at midnight
