Do you have what it takes to help the Council maximise its income to provide vital services to its residents and businesses?
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity within the Revenue Services Department (Income Collection & Enforcement Team) dealing with the recovery and enforcement of Council Tax and NNDR.
There are 2 roles with both dealing with the recovery of mainly council tax.
You will join our busy team dealing with large volume of telephone calls, email and letters from residents, businesses, and other charge payers in relation to their council tax.
You will ensure that all types of collection and enforcement activity in relation to all streams of income is carried out in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with legislation and set performance targets. The posts deal with cases from the issue of summonses and you will need a sound understanding of the billing and collection process.
Ideally, you will have experience in a revenues environment and be able to demonstrate good knowledge on the sources of local government income. Previous experience of dealing with ratepayers at the Magistrates’ Court is desirable for both roles. You will assist residents and businesses in making arrangements to pay, deal with liability enquiries, work closely with both the council tax and business rate billing teams and external stakeholders such as the Council's enforcement agents.
We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills to manage your busy and varied workload.
If you believe you meet the requirements and have the necessary skills, then we would love to hear from you.
