About Us
Newham is a place that is full of potential and brimming with energy and talent. Proud to be one of the youngest and most diverse boroughs anywhere in the UK, 72% of our residents are from ethnically diverse communities, speaking over 220 languages and our population of 351,000 is growing at a rate of 14%, the third highest rate of growth in London.
In recent years we have seen unparalleled levels of investment, growth, and interest in our Borough, but for all our successes, Covid-19 laid bare the endemic inequality that exists in our borough and how now, the Cost of Living crisis is exacerbating that. That’s why we are working towards Building a Fairer Newham, focused on economic security, health, equality and the environment.
About the Role
The Newham Sovereign IT Programme is a significant programme of change to split from the oneSource shared IT service and establish an IT service for Newham. You will be working within the programme to lead on driving behaviour and culture change within the newly sovereign Digital, Data and Technology team. Your responsibilities will include managing internal communications, enhancing staff engagement through creative strategies, and promoting wellbeing to ensure a positive workplace environment.
In this pivotal role, your core responsibilities will involve leading the development and management of internal communication strategies to ensure clear and effective messaging throughout the transition. This includes recruiting new team members and migration of our infrastructure and operations to a managed service partner, ensuring smooth integration and continuity.
About You
You are a dynamic leader, passionate about shaping workplace culture and driving change. With exceptional communication skills and a vision for strategic alignment, you will guide our team through a significant period of transformation, ensuring that our IT services evolve to meet but also align with London Borough of Newham’s strategic digital goals.
Your expertise includes internal communications and messaging strategies, along with a deep understanding of staff engagement techniques and wellbeing initiatives.
You demonstrate proven skills in leading organisational cultural changes, articulating complex messages with clarity, and developing and delivering impactful training programs. Your outstanding interpersonal skills enable you to motivate and engage staff effectively, fostering a cohesive and forward-looking team environment.
