The main purpose of the role is to provide timely, accurate and supportive housing and health assessment services for residents who apply to our housing register and households who approach under the homelessness legislation. The post holder will be tasked with assessing the medical conditions of housing applicants, where information has been submitted and where appropriate to make recommendations and support interventions such as specific equipment and/or adaptation provision that may be required. </p> <p>You will be required to carry out assessments for social housing and homelessness applicants in accordance of any relevant legislation, codes of guidance, the Council’s housing allocations scheme and in-house policies and procedures in order to provide a fair response as well as at the same time protecting the Council’s interests. You will work in partnership with PRPs and developers regarding new social housing wheelchair units. You will also need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, for example with officers within the Allocations Service, Homeless Prevention Service, Adult Social Care, Housing OT Surveyor, SEND, Housing Partnerships, the Voids and Repairs Services and Children, Schools and Families and other partner agencies in the Council. You will also need to manage the council’s relationship with any external provider of medical assessments.</p> <p>The successful candidate should have prior experience of working in a similar multi-disciplinary team setting and will process the ability to make appropriate assessments based on recommendations on all activities a resident undertakes throughout the course of their day. You will look at alternative methods, techniques and strategies for coping with functional deficits as well as making suggested alterations to resident’s homes.
