Medway Public Health are currently looking for an enthusiastic Health Improvement Assistant to work within our Health Improvement Advice Centre.
We provide our clients with a gateway to our health and wellbeing services and the post holder will be triaging referrals, providing service users with brief health promotion advice and negotiating appointments for Supporting Healthy Weight, NHS Health Checks and Smoking Cessation programmes.
Sensitive information such as medical history, previous health behaviour change attempts, preferences and barriers to attending interventions and logistical considerations will need to be discussed. The role is predominantly telephone based with the post holder making a large number of calls each day.
Applicants will need prior experience of working in an administrative and/or telephony role and be used to communicating with the general public and other Health Professionals. Due to the busy nature of the role, you will be expected to multi-task and work across several different workstreams on a daily basis.
Experience in Public Health is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
We operate a hybrid working model and the week will be split between working from home and in the office at Medway Council.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate all essential requirements as listed in the job profile and detail examples within the supporting statement on their application. Failure to complete this will mean we are unable to shortlist you for interview.
In return we offer you:
We're committed to making Medway carbon neutral by 2050. We have developed an action plan to ensure we play our part in addressing the climate emergency. Our declaration fits into our http://www.mindfulemployer.net/ for information on how Medway Council put good practices in place to ensure employees and job applicants who declare mental health issues receive the right level of support.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy at any time prior to the closing date.
