The Role: Do you have a passion for improving the environment? Are you determined to make a difference and have a desire to offer excellent customer service? We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Waste Contracts Monitoring Officer to join our team.
Working out and about in Mid Sussex daily, your role will contribute towards the achievement of national, regional, and local targets to reduce waste growth, and increase recycling and composting. You will have a tangible impact, raising awareness of sustainable waste management, with a view to changing people’s perceptions and behaviour.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Conducting regular site inspections and audits.
- Liaising with contractors, residents, and other stakeholders to address and resolve issues.
- Preparing detailed reports and providing recommendations for service improvements.
- Supporting the development and implementation of waste management strategies.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in waste management or environmental services.
- Public sector experience (desirable).
- Contract management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- A keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills.
