The Role
We're seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Front Line Delivery Officer to join our Integrated Transport Unit. This role supports our Community Meals and Home to School Transport teams, providing essential services to residents. As the Lead Officer, you'll work closely with the Principal Operations Lead to maintain high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused services.
This role requires flexibility across our Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare sites, with a shift schedule from Thursday to Monday, five hours per day.
Please be advised that the Clevedon office will be closing in 2025, consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood. This will be at Weston-super-Mare or within North Somerset.
Key Responsibilities:
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

- Serve as the primary contact for Community Meals and School Transport officers, coordinating daily operational activities,
- Answer queries from colleagues and service users, ensuring efficient and timely service delivery,
- Lead the induction, training, and development of operational teams,
- Oversee route planning, resource allocation, and risk management to ensure operational continuity,
- Execute daily logistics, including driver scheduling, compliance checks, vehicle defect reporting, and IT troubleshooting,
- Conduct welfare checks at every engagement, promptly reporting incidents as needed,
- Manage essential administrative tasks, including rota management, equipment maintenance, complaint handling, and confidential document disposal,
- Ensure service risk assessments are reviewed and proactively managed,
- Maintain compliance with safety and council protocols, upholding a customer-focused approach to every task.

- NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualifications (or equivalent practical work experience) related to the service area,
- In-depth knowledge of service-related technical protocols, processes, and relevant legislation,
- Practical experience working with vulnerable people, with an understanding of safeguarding protocols,
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with colleagues and service users, both verbally and in writing,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn bespoke software,
- Ability to interpret maps and plans accurately,
- A full, clean driving license,
- A positive, courteous, and professional demeanour toward colleagues and the public.
